General Installation Guidelines

Your Rotary Systems slip ring is a precision component which, when installed properly, will provide a long, reliable life. Please follow these general guidelines when installing your slip ring:
Connections
- Rotary Systems slip rings should always be installed using flexible connections. To avoid damage to the bearings, the slip ring needs to find its center during operation. It is imperative that either the shaft or the housing is not hard-mounted.
- It is essential the housing or the shaft is allowed to float to compensate for any eccentriciteis and/or misalignment.
Anti-rotation
For most slip ring applications the leads should not be used as a method for anti-rotation. Most slip rings require an external device for anti-rotation such as a fork around the fittings, pin, yoke or bracket. Anti-rotation devices need to "float" to prevent damage to the slip ring assembly.
See your specific series page for more information or consult a Rotary Systems engineer.
